Franz-Joseph Foltz is the Advanced Calibration Application Engineer with ETAS, which provides innovative solutions for the development of embedded systems for the automotive industry and other sectors of the embedded industry. Franz joined ETAS in 2017 and supports ETAS customer’s in improving their calibration process and task efficiency by applying ETAS software tools for automation, modeling, and interactive documentation. Prior to joining ETAS, Franz has worked with major OEMs in the development of global automotive powertrain projects, to include engine development and calibration for heavy-duty on-road truck engines (US EPA 1998-2010), rail engines (Tier IV) and industrial engines. Some of his technical areas of experience include: diesel and natural gas engine combustion system development; calibration of engine controllers; design control of engine and transmission calibration software; and calibration tools and methods to improve calibration quality. Franz holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and an MBA from New York Institute of Technology.
